Honour for Radcliffe-on-Trent CC First XI Player

After competing in a Varsity match on Saturday against Oxford University at Lord's Cricket Club, our very own Radcliffe-on-Trent member and first team player, Frankie Brown, was duly awarded his coveted `Cambridge Blue'.

Batting Number 5 in the 50-over game, Frankie scored 23 runs while posting bowling figures of 7 overs, 1 maiden, 0 wickets for 20.

Although the day was both memorable and successful for Frankie personally, the match itself was very one-sided:  Cambridge, batting first, were bowled out for 123 in 40 overs, while Oxford sealed victory in the 29th over of their reply with the loss of only 4 wickets, a win secured for them by star turn, Raj Sharma, who took six wickets - 2-11 off 10 - and top-scored with 45.

For those unfamiliar with the term, the Cambridge ‘Blue' is, traditionally, an entitlement to wear the distinctive, light-coloured ‘Cambridge Blue' blazer after competing in a (cricket) match against Oxford University.  Frankie is pictured above at a reception with his proud mum, Gilly.
